Today we crossed the land border from Costa Rica into Panama.
This whole process was stupid. I am therefore extremely qualified to comment on it.
Both sides seemed to rely a lot on goodwill and well behaved tourists. We had to go out of our way to actually get passports stamped etc. Nobody actually checked we'd done this, and I'm not 100% sure what would have happened if we hadn't.
We also had to have proof of a flight out of the country, even if, like us you're leaving by land. If you don't have this you are forced to buy a $15 bus ticket then and there. I absolutely did NOT edit the HTML of an old flight email and change the date and flight details. No, sir.
